RESEARCH OF THE MEAT MARKET IN KYRGYZ REPUBLIC

This study was performed for the U.S. Agency for International Development.

Examine existing and potential markets of meat in the Kyrgyz Republic, both domestic and export.

KEY FINDINGS:

  • The potential demand for meat in the Kyrgyz Republic is 285 200 tons per year;
  • The average market retail price - 292 KGS on all dark meat;
  • The share of imported meat has increased in recent years and in 2011 was 32.5%;
  • High consumption of meat, the purchasing power of the population, as well as insufficient supply of local markets make the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation potentially attractive for the export of meat from Kyrgyzstan.

TRANSPARENCY OF TARIFICATION OF INTERNET SERVICES SUBSCRIBERS IN KYRGYZ REPUBLIC

With the increasing popularity of the World Wide Web and an increasing number of users, studies aimed at investigating the specificity of Internet use in Kyrgyzstan becomes more relevant. This study was performed for PF "Soros - Kyrgyzstan".

Examine the pricing of access to the Internet in the Kyrgyz Republic; identify pricing trends in the country, as well as identify possible reserves to reduce the price of Internet access through the optimization of the value chain.

KEY FINDINGS:

  • Since 2004, the price of the Internet has fallen for more than 60%;
  • The lowest Internet prices for retail customers are at «Megaline» and «Kyrgyztelecom" providers, while for wholesalers and those wishing to rent small channels prices are more attractive in companies "Kyrgyztelecom" and "Elkat ";
  • Unlimited Internet tariffs in the neighboring countries, namely, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, differ significantly from the rates in the Kyrgyz Republic.

 

 

MARKET AND INDUSTRY RESEARCH OF BOTTLED WATER IN KYRGYZ REPUBLIC

This study was performed for the German Society for Technical Cooperation.

Identification of trends in the bottled water market in Kyrgyzstan, consumption, consumer preferences, export potential, etc.

KEY FINDINGS:

  • The most recognizable brands: "Legend", "Jalal-Abad № 27", "Issyk-Ata", "Bonaqua";
  • The main criteria in selecting water: good taste, reliable brand, reasonable price, habit;
  • Export of bottled water is from Kazakhstan, Georgia and Russia. Water is exported from Kyrgyzstan to Tajikistan, Russia and the United Arab Emirates

MAIN TRENDS IN MOBILE MARKET DEVELOPMENT IN KYRGYZ REPUBLIC

This study was conducted for the Kyrgyz Services and Software Developers Association.

STUDY OBJECTIVE:

Study of the cellular connection market and of adaptation capacity of service providers to changing internal conditions and external development trends.

KEY FINDINGS:

  • In 2009-2012 ARPU will continue to decline overall in Kyrgyzstan;
  • Major challenges to the development of 3G-networks are high cost and limited number of devices that support 3G;
  • Development of third generation networks (and, later, a 4-generation) will work as a platform for increasing the subscriber base and increasing ARPU.
